Top states for mobile homes
Of the nearly 9 million mobile homes in the U.S., the majority are in the South. South Carolina and New Mexico have the highest proportion, according to a recent analysis by the U.S. Census Bureau. For sheer numbers, Florida and Texas lead the pack.
More and more Americans, for a variety of reasons, are opting for the mobile home. The Census Bureau study shows that the number of trailers in the U.S. increased from 300,000 in 1950 to 8.8 million in 2000. Like it or not, the geography of rural and retired America is also the geography of the trailer.
Alabama ranks #6 in Mobile homes as a percentage of all housing units
South Carolina (1,753,670), 20.3%
New Mexico (780,579), 18.6%
West Virginia (844,623), 16.9%
Mississippi (1,161,953), 16.6%
North Carolina (3,523,944), 16.4%
Alabama (1,963,711), 16.3%

I’m living in one now! South Carlina’s praide and joy. joseph will be staying with me on the 19th, this will be his first time sleeping in a trailer.

Actually, he’s been invited to stay in one before, when Billy Atchison was showing Rita and Joe his new trailer back in the day - “Joe, bud, that is where ya’ll can stay if you come over, bud.” They were two years from marraige, you gotta love Billy…
