Dave, meet the Magic City

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

A promotion for the Meet Dave movie drove through Birmingham.

My only question is this: If Eddie Murphy’s head fell off of the trailer, would it do more damage to Birmingham’s interstate than a say, a steel coil.

Stop means stop

Friday, June 20th, 2008

This photo was taken in a subdivision that borders Helena and Alabaster, AL. I enjoy the underlines as well as the fact that they went with the $ signs. If you’re going to write a home made sign and stick it on the stop sign, why stop at the $ signs.

Rebate check = “In God We Trust” name change

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Steve Kreuscher is no more.

A Lake County judge granted permission to the Zion man Friday to officially change his name to “In God We Trust.” That’s “In God” as a first name and “We Trust” as a last name.

“I feel fantastic,” We Trust said. “I’ve been praying for this.”

The 57-year-old school bus driver and amateur artist says his new name fully expresses who he is as a person.

“God has brought me through some very hard times,” he said. “I feel this is a way to honor God and immortalize that phrase.”

“I feel great. It’s just like, yes!” We Trust said.

The process to change his name took roughly three months. Throughout the course We Trust said he was looking for a sign from God that would let him know it was a good idea. He got it one day while adding up the expenses for the name change, which came out to roughly $600.

“I didn’t want to use my own money because things are tight,” said the father of four. “Three weeks later, I got my (tax) rebate check for $600.”

We Trust will have to change his driver’s license, bank account and Social Security card to reflect his new name. That’s going to cost him some money.

He’s already had to pay $246 for the legal petition, and about $150 for legal notices in the newspaper.

He figures the total cost will be about $600.

And wouldn’t you know it? He just received his government stimulus check in the amount of $600.

“It didn’t surprise me,” We Trust said. “God is with me.”

Don’t forget to vote today!

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Mark “No NCAA” Townsend needs your vote today (U.S. senate). I’m not sure if you have to declare whether you are a Republican or Democrat today, but if you can say undecided or independent and are able to vote both tickets, then vote for No NCAA!

Another website to check out and surprisingly called: http://www.noncaa.com/

In a letter to Chuck Townsend, CEO of Advance Publications, who owns the Birmingham News, Huntsville Times, and the Mobile Register, Mark writes in his first of three points:

My agriculture teacher at Bear Creek took us on a field trip to his farm. He took his finger and put it in cow dung. He then licked it. He explained to us the taste let him know what medicine to give to keep his cows healthy. He said if you have the money you can find this out in a lab. If you don’t have the money and you want to raise cattle, to stay in business, you must taste the dung. I am not a lawyer. I have tasted NCAA’s dung. I am still in business.
